Taylor O’Brien is a third-year law student from Sinton, Texas. She holds strong interests in agriculture, advocacy, and business and commercial law, all of which she incorporated into her soon-to-be-published student comment: Accounting for Accountability: Incorporating Oversight into the Section 139L Partial Interest Income Tax Exclusion for Lenders.
Beyond law review, Taylor enjoys her roles as Editor in Chief of the Texas Bank Lawyer, Treasurer of the Agricultural Law Association, and Marketing and Retention Coordinator of the Christian Legal Society. Additionally, Taylor engages with the Federalist Society and Organization of Women Law Students and works as a Property Supplemental Instructor for Professor Amy Hardberger. Taylor also prioritizes her Catholic faith, spending time with family and friends, traveling, listening to music, and being outdoors.
Prior to law school, Taylor graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in December 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and a certificate in Philosophy Pre-law. She solidified her career ambitions through legal internships, including the legal department at Texas Farm Credit and the D.C. office of U.S. Congressman Michael Cloud. In her 1L summer, Taylor interned for Justice Jenny Cron on the Texas Thirteenth District Court of Appeals and then for Davis, Hutchinson & Wilkerson, L.L.P.
Taylor enjoys her membership in the Texas Tech Law Review and looks forward to supporting Volume 59 staff members throughout their comment-writing process as a Comment Editor. Following graduation, she looks forward to returning to San Antonio to work at Valkenaar O’Donnell PLLC.
