Shelby Morlock is a second-year law student at Texas Tech University School of Law, graduating in May 2028. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she moved to Lubbock for her undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, with minors in Linguistics and Legal Studies, a concentration in Hispanic Linguistics, and a certificate in Translation and Interpretation.
Following her first year of law school, Shelby studied abroad in Santiago, Chile, in a program focused on international criminal law. She currently works as a law clerk at the Law Office of Laurie Key, a criminal defense firm in Lubbock, where she has gained experience drafting motions and conducting legal research for issues arising in both state and federal criminal cases. She intends to practice as a juvenile criminal defense attorney in Lubbock after graduation.
In addition to serving as a Staff Member on Volume 59 of the Texas Tech Law Review, Shelby is President of the Criminal Law Association and a member of the Student Recruitment Council and the Hispanic Law Students Association. She also serves as a Region Coordinator for Mortar Board, overseeing chapters in the Southwest region, and is a Mortar Board National Foundation Fellow for the upcoming year.
Outside of school, Shelby enjoys golfing, cooking, and has gone skydiving. She has a dog named Rory and a rabbit named Pope, who are her favorite study partners.
