Sara Jaeckle

Sara is a 3L J.D. candidate graduating in May 2020. She grew up in Austin, Texas where she received her Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Texas in 2013. Prior to law school, Sara taught English as a foreign language for two years in Incheon, South Korea, where she became proficient in Korean, before moving back home to Austin to continue teaching.

During her first year of law school, Sara participated in various intra-school advocacy competitions, progressing to the semi-finals in mock trial. In addition to her role as the Online Edition Editor on the Law Review executive board, Sara is the Section 1 Contracts tutor and Section 2 Criminal Law tutor, a member of the Board of Barristers, and an officer of the Criminal Law Association. Additionally, after advancing to third place in the National ABA Arbitration competition last year, she will compete in the competition for the second year in a row this year. Sara is also a member of the Student Recruitment Council, a research assistant for Professor Brian Shannon, and most notably, a student attorney for the selective Innocence Project of Texas clinical program.

Sara spent her 1L summer as an appellate clerk writing briefs for the Lubbock District Attorney. During her 2L summer, Sara clerked for the Washington Legal Foundation in Washington, D.C. where she assisted in the writing of Supreme Court amicus briefs. She also clerked for the Attorney General of Texas, Criminal Prosecutions Division, in Austin, Texas, where she assisted in trial preparation, voir dire, and legal research. In what little free time she has, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband, reading 19th Century British literature, and maintaining her fluency in Korean and Japanese.
