Richard “Chase” Bailey is a 3L J.D. candidate who will graduate in May 2025. Chase was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After living in Albuquerque for eighteen years, he traveled just a few hours south to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he attended New Mexico State University. Ultimately, Chase graduated from New Mexico State’s College of Business with a degree in Finance.
When he began studying at New Mexico State, Chase had no idea that he would eventually end up pursuing a legal education. It was not until he took a business law class his sophomore year that he realized just how exciting the law could be.
Following his 1L year, Chase spent the first half of his summer clerking for Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam. There, he conducted legal research and draft briefs for both federal and state cases. Chase then spent the second half of his summer working as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge James Wesley Hendrix in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. While serving as a judicial intern, Chase spent the majority of his time working on a fascinating First Amendment case.
In addition to serving as a Texas Tech Law Review member, Chase will spend a portion of his 2L year tutoring Civil Procedure. He is also looking forward to working as both a brief writer for one of the school’s national moot court teams and a research assistant to Professor Benham.
In his spare time, Chase enjoys playing golf (though not very well), watching football, and spending time with family and friends.
