Rachel Behnke is a second-year law student who will graduate in May of 2026. Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Rachel proudly grew up on the Gulf Coast. She moved to Lubbock, Texas in 2021 to attend Texas Tech University. Two years later, Rachel graduated summa cum laude with Highest Honors from the Honors College, majoring in Spanish and Honors Sciences and the Humanities. As a part of the Honors program, Rachel wrote a thesis titled “Legality v. Morality: Should Victimless Crimes be Prosecuted?” While at Texas Tech University, Rachel also led the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law organization as president and captain of the mock trial team.
In addition to serving as a Staff Member for Volume 57 of Texas Tech Law Review, Rachel is a national competitor on Tech Law’s mock trial and pre-trial advocacy teams. During her 1L year, Rachel enjoyed competing in the Board of Barristers Competitions for negotiations, mock trial, and moot court, earning recognition as a top oralist in all three events. She is also a member of the Federalist Society and Student Recruitment Council.
Over her 1L summer, Rachel was a summer associate at Liskow & Lewis in Houston, Texas. There, she conducted legal research related to oil and gas and maritime litigation, outlined and summarized depositions, and assisted in the drafting of various legal documents.
Rachel hopes to pursue a career in civil litigation, with interests in oil and gas and maritime law. When not at school, Rachel enjoys walking her Scottie, Heidi, attending Texas Tech football games, spending time with her friends, and listening to music on vinyl with her brother.
