Michelle Sutton

Michelle Sutton is a third-year J.D. candidate who will graduate in May of 2025. Michelle was born and raised in El Campo, Texas. She graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science and a minor in Agricultural Economics.

Michelle spent her 2L summer working with the United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry under Ranking Member John Boozman. As a legal clerk, she conducted legal research and drafted memos regarding farm bill priorities. Michelle also participated in ag committee hearings and stakeholder meetings by helping the counsel team provide legal input.

In addition to serving as a comment editor for Volume 57 of Texas Tech Law Review, Michelle is a Legal Practice Teaching Fellow for Professors Catherine Christopher and Deleith Gossett and is a research assistant for Professor Dustin Benham. Additionally, she is a member of the Board of Barristers, serving as the Director of Written Advocacy. Michelle also participates in national advocacy competitions as a brief writer and oral advocate.

Michelle’s areas of interest include agricultural law, administrative law, and public policy. In her free time, Michelle enjoys working out, traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
