Mercedes Reed is a third-year law student who will graduate in May 2027. Mercedes grew up in Denison, Texas, and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, summa cum laude, from Dallas Baptist University in 2024.
Following her first year of law school, Mercedes served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Amos L. Mazzant of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Most recently, Mercedes spent the summer as a Summer Associate at Allensworth, where she gained experience in complex commercial and construction-related legal matters.
Mercedes has also represented Texas Tech Law in negotiation competitions at the national and international levels. As a member of Texas Tech’s ABA Negotiation Team, she and her partner advanced to the national finals and finished as National Finalists. She later represented the United States at the 2026 International Negotiation Competition, competing against law students from around the world.
In addition to her work with the Law Review and advocacy programs, Mercedes has served as a mediator through Texas Tech Law’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinic.
In her free time, Mercedes enjoys playing piano, pilates, and exploring new coffee shops.
