Melissa Hernandez

Melissa Hernandez is a second-year law student at Texas Tech University School of Law and will graduate in May 2028. Melissa grew up in Irving, Texas and graduated from Nimitz High School. In 2021, she graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Law, Justice, and Social Change.

After graduation, Melissa returned to Texas and worked as a paralegal at a personal injury and civil rights law firm in Dallas for almost four years. In this role, she drafted motions, proposed orders, discovery requests, notices of depositions and hearings, and subpoenas. She also conducted intake interviews with potential clients to assess liability.

At Texas Tech Law, Melissa is on the Pro Bono Student Board of Directors and is involved with the Christian Legal Society and Hispanic Law Student Association.

In her free time, Melissa enjoys thrifting with her mom, spending time with her godchildren, exploring new cities, and grabbing coffee with friends.
