Marcus Rael III is a third-year law student at Texas Tech University School of Law and will graduate in May 2027. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Marcus attended Saint Pius X High School before earning his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University, graduating summa cum laude with minors in Political Science and Psychology.
Marcus’s interest in the legal field was shaped early through summer positions at Robles, Rael, and Anaya, P.C., where he gained firsthand exposure to legal practice and developed a strong desire to pursue a career in law.
Following his first year of law school, Marcus worked with Avangrid’s Corporate Development and Acquisitions Division in Orange, Connecticut. During his time there, he contributed to the development of a legal contract playbook designed for use across Avangrid and its affiliate companies nationwide. He also collaborated with the Litigation Division to deepen his understanding of corporate risk analysis and supported the Power Division on matters involving the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Following his second year of law school, Marcus worked at Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP, where he gained experience working with the firm’s Oil and Gas practice group. His work provided him with valuable exposure to the legal and transactional issues affecting the energy industry and further developed his interest in practicing law in the Southwest.
Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Marcus enjoys spending time with his family and friends, golfing, and hunting.
