Marcus Braymer

Marcus Braymer is a third year law student at Texas Tech University School of Law graduating in May 2026. He grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, but also spent time in California and Alabama as a child. In 2016, He graduated from University of Texas at Arlington with degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice.

After graduating from college, Marcus worked as a security guard at the Kimbell Art Museum. After that he was a Legal Secretary and then a Paralegal at Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas as part of their Community Revitalization Project. There, he worked with economically disadvantaged communities to assist them in addressing fair housing, community development, and environmental justice issues in their communities.

During his 1L summer, Marcus returned to Legal Aid as a clerk to assist in legal research. He also interned for Judge Brian Walker of the Second Court of Appeals of Texas where he assisted in researching legal issues and assisted in the drafting and editing of legal opinions.

As a law review member, Marcus published his comment Dazed and Confused: making sense of the Supreme Court’s confusing second Amendment jurisprudence to argue that 922(G)(3) is unconstitutional and recommending a legislative fix for that unconstitutionality in Texas Tech Law Review.

During the first half of his 2L summer, Marcus worked as a Summer Associate at Naman, Howell, Smith, & Lee in Fort Worth. After that he worked as a Law Clerk at Bocell Ridley in Dallas Texas. At these positions he gained experience in civil defense litigation.

As a 3L, Marcus is on the Executive Board for Law Review serving as the Symposium Editor. In this position he is responsible for the planning and execution of the Energy Law Symposium and the Water Law Symposium. It is his goal for these symposiums to bring practitioners together to discuss important issues in the law and to introduce accomplished attorneys to Texas Tech students.

In his free time, Marcus enjoys watching sports, listening to podcasts, running, lifting weights, and spending time with family, friends, and wonderful girlfriend.
