Lauren Ottmers
Lauren Ottmers is a third-year law student who will graduate in May 2024. She was born and raised in Boerne, Texas. Lauren graduated from Texas Tech University in 2020, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness.
In addition to serving as an Article Editor for Volume 56 of the Texas Tech Law Review, Lauren is president of the Agricultural Law Association, and the Executive Managing Editor of the Journal of the Energy Law Practitioner. During her 2L year, Lauren’s student comment, “Incentivizing the Beef Packing Industry to Invest in Competition Through a Tax Credit for Small Meat Packers,” was accepted for publication in the May 2024 edition of Drake University Law School’s Drake Journal of Agriculture.
Following her 1L year, Lauren participated in the summer associate program at Santoyo Wehmeyer in San Antonio, Texas. There, she worked on solely oil and gas matters. Following her 2L year, Lauren was a summer associate for Sprouse, Shrader, Smith in Amarillo, Texas and McMahon, Surovik, Suttle in Abilene, Texas. She was able to work in a large variety of practice areas while working for these firms. Lauren’s areas of interest include oil and gas, agriculture, and real estate law.
In her spare time, Lauren enjoys going on walks and hikes with her dog, Harley, going to local country music concerts, playing intramural softball, and traveling to see family and friends.
