Jay Evans
Jay D. Evans is a 3L J.D. candidate who will graduate in May 2022. Jay grew up in Stephenville, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2010. He graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. with a Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate Development in 2012.
Prior to law school, Jay worked as a political fundraising director for state and national political candidates, campaigns, and political action committees. In 2012, he worked for Marylanders for Marriage Equality, one of the first campaigns in the nation to secure marriage rights for LGBTQ couples through a ballot initiative. After returning to Texas, he was responsible for raising millions of dollars to support pro-choice political candidates in the state.
In addition to serving as Editor in Chief for Volume 54 of the Texas Tech Law Review, Jay is a member of the Board of Barristers and represents Texas Tech as an oralist at national moot court competitions. In Spring 2021, he was the National Champion of the American Bar Association’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition, the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind. Additionally, his student Comment, “Say Cheese, Facial Recognition Technology in a Post Carpenter World” will be published by the Syracuse Journal of Science and Technology Law in Fall 2021.
Following graduation, Jay will join the litigation section of Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, PC. In his spare time, Jay enjoys skiing, hiking, and visiting his five nieces and nephews.
