James Ashmore

James Ashmore is a 3L J.D. candidate who will graduate in May 2024. He grew up in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University in 2021, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Energy Commerce with a specialization in Energy Transaction Analysis.

Following his first year of law school, James interned at the 47th District Attorney’s Office in Amarillo, Texas. After his second year, James was a Summer Associate in the Oil & Gas and Financial Services practice groups at Holland & Knight’s Dallas office. Following graduation, James has accepted an offer to join the firm as an associate in the Oil & Gas group.

James’ student Comment, “A New, Clear Demand: Necessary Changes to the Inflation Reduction Act to Prevent the Current Fallout in the Nuclear Industry” has been selected for publication in an upcoming edition of Texas Tech Law Review. In addition to serving as a Comment Editor for Volume 56 of the Texas Tech Law Review, James is a student attorney in the Civil Practice Clinic.

In his free time, James enjoys playing guitar, fishing, and taking his fiancé dancing.
