Ivan X. Naranjo is a 3rd year J.D. candidate, graduating from the Texas Tech School of Law in May 2025. Ivan was born in Austin, Texas, and received a Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020.
Before coming to Lubbock and Tech Law in 2022, Ivan worked in variety of different fields. He began his work in land use as an intern at an Austin law firm and an Austin development firm. He then spent time in the field of education as a student teacher in the UTeach program at UT and as a youth program assistant at a local Austin nonprofit. Finally, he worked as a complaint specialist at the City of Austin Office of Police Oversight after graduating from UT.
Outside of Texas Tech Law Review, Ivan is the Secretary for the Texas Tech Chapter of the National Lawyers’ Guild and the Public Relations Chair for the Hispanic Law Students Association.
After completing his 1st year of law school, Ivan spent the summer of 2023 learning about municipal law at a clerkship with the Bojorquez Law Firm in Austin, Texas. In his time with Bojorquez, Ivan conducted legal research and drafted legal memorandums, as well as many other legal documents including easements, condemnation petitions, and city ordinances. Ivan also accompanied and assisted attorneys in city council meetings and municipal court pretrial conferences, and actively participated in weekly property acquisition meetings at the firm.
Ivan is primarily interested in land use, governmental relations, and education law. Outside of law school, Ivan spends his time playing the drums, running, and participating in local film sets as a camera assistant.
