Hunter Kovacev

Hunter Kovacev is a J.D. Candidate who will graduate in May 2027. Hunter was born in Fort Worth and was raised in Lake Jackson, Texas. After graduating from high school, Hunter attended Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences.

During his time at Texas A&M, Hunter was baptized and married his lovely wife, Madison. After graduating, the two moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where Hunter spent his first year of law school at the University of Tennessee Winston College of Law. While there Hunter plugged into his community, competed in oral advocacy competitions, and most importantly, he became a father to his incredible daughter, Olivia.

Seeking closer proximity to family and an excellent legal education, Hunter transferred to the Texas Tech University School of Law. In addition to serving as the first transfer student to become an Articles Editor at the law school, he is also a member of the Federalist Society, Christian Legal Society, Intellectual Property Student Association, Criminal Law Association, and the Texas Aggie Bar Association. He is also a representative of the Texas Tech University School of Law American Inn of Court.

Following his 2L year, Hunter spent the first half of his summer in Houston at Naman Howell Smith & Lee where he conducted legal research, prepared litigation reports, and drafted legal memoranda. He then spent the second half of his summer in Lubbock with the firm McWhorter Cobb & Johnson, LLP where he conducted legal research and drafted legal memoranda on commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and probate matters. Throughout Hunter’s time at Texas Tech University School of Law he has been fortunate to work part-time in the tech transfer space through the University’s Office of Research Commercialization. In his capacity as a graduate assistant, he conducts prior art searches, drafts patentability analysis reports, and researches ways to commercialize the technology disclosures of inventors.

After law school, Hunter plans on practicing patent law, specifically patent litigation, though he is planning on sitting for the patent bar this winter should he wish to prosecute as well. Outside of law school, Hunter enjoys reading, weight-lifting, and spending quality time with his wife, daughter, friends, and his church family at Milwaukee Avenue Church of Christ.
