Francesca Yanez-Torres

Francesca Yanez-Torres is a third-year law student who will graduate in May 2027. She was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Francesca graduated from Texas Tech University in 2024 with a degree in Political Science and a Minor in Philosophy.

Prior to law school, Francesca interned at the Lubbock Private Defender Office and gained hands-on experience in criminal defense investigations and indigent defense work. She has continued her interest in criminal law during her 1L summer, where she clerked at the Law Office of Laurie Key. Francesca continues to work at the Law Office of Laurie Key during the school year. She has gained experience drafting motions and conducting legal research for issues arising in both state and federal criminal cases.

In addition to serving as the Executive Managing Editor for Volume 59 of Texas Tech Law Review, Francesca is also a member of the Board of Barristers and competes on both National Mock Trial and Moot Court teams. She also serves as a 1L Tutor for Professor Watts’s Torts Class.

In her free time, Francesca enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her cat, Dior.
