Courtney R. Chaplin

Courtney Chaplin is a 3L J.D. candidate who will graduate in May 2024. Courtney graduated from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Political Science. While at Salem College, Courtney was also a member of the Varsity Soccer team. Prior to attending law school, Courtney worked in the Business Intelligence department with Reynolds American Tobacco in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

In addition to serving as a Texas Tech Law Review comment editor, Courtney works as a research assistant for Professor Gerry Beyer. Courtney is also a member of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and Tech Law’s Excellence in Legal Research Program. Additionally, her student Comment, “Welfare Benefit Plan Termination and ERISA Fiduciary Duties: Stick to Varity or Bid Farewell to Exceptional Retirement Benefits,” will be published by the Texas Tech Law Review in Fall 2023. 

Following her 2L year, Courtney was a summer associate in Foley & Lardner’s Dallas office, where she will return as a corporate associate in 2024. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys painting, running, spending time with her dog, and hiking.
