Christian Shaffer

Christian Shaffer is a 3L J.D. candidate who will graduate in May 2024. Christian grew up in Tomball, Texas, just outside of Houston. He graduated summa cum laude from Washington State University in 2021 with a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science.

In addition to serving as Lead Articles Editor for Volume 56 of the Texas Tech Law Review, Christian is an oralist and brief writer for one of Texas Tech Law’s national moot court teams—participating in several competitions and placing his best as a national finalist at the 2022 National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition. Additionally, his student Comment, “Deplatforming Censorship: How Texas Constitutionally Barred Social Media Platform Censorship,” will be published by the Texas Tech Law Review in Fall 2023. Following his 2L year, Christian spent half of the summer working for Padfield and Stout as a clerk in Fort Worth, Texas, and the other half as a clerk for the Lanier Law Firm in Houston, Texas.

After graduation, Christian will begin his legal career in Tyler, Texas, as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable John D. King at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
