Cannon Echols is a 3L law student and will graduate in May of 2025. He was born and raised in scenic Midland, Texas; and growing up, Cannon spent his time assisting his family with their various small businesses across West Texas.
For his first two years of college, he attended Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, where he was technically a collegiate athlete for GV’s club rowing team. He then transferred to Texas Christian University and graduated cum laude with a BBA in Entrepreneurship––also rowing for the TCU rowing club.
Prior to law school, Cannon helped manage his family’s HTeaO franchise in Odessa, which was the highest-grossing franchise in America during his time of employ. And in addition to serving as an Articles Editor for Volume 57 of Texas Tech Law Review, Cannon is Tech Law’s State Bar of Texas senior representative. He also finds joy in honing his written and oral advocacy skills by competing in national mock trial and moot court competitions.
During both his 1L and 2L summers, Cannon worked as an appellate clerk for the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office. There, he drafted numerous appellate briefs for the State, shielding criminal convictions from reversal.
Without surprise, Cannon’s primary area of legal interest is criminal prosecution, but he also entertains ideas of constitutional law, personal injury, and appellate litigation. Outside of law school, Cannon enjoys running, rowing, pickleball, trivia/game nights, and watching movies.
