Bennett Brinkman

Bennett Brinkman is a second-year law student at the Texas Tech School of Law. A proud native of Oklahoma City, Bennett graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Journalism degree in 2022.

Before law school, Bennett spent three years reporting for the nonprofit newsroom NonDoc Media in Oklahoma City, covering state politics, education, court cases, and other breaking news. One of Bennett’s favorite stories that he followed was the case of St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, a proposed Catholic public charter school, the legality of which was debated by the U.S. Supreme Court in April 2025. Bennett covered the case’s multi-year path to the Supreme Court from the inception of the school to oral arguments, which he watched from the Supreme Courtroom as a credentialed member of the media.

Bennett is passionate about issues important to the exercise of First Amendment press freedoms, including government transparency and freedom of speech.

During his 1L summer, Bennett worked for Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam and Craig, Terrill, Hamm, Grossman & Erwin, two Lubbock law firms. Bennett helped both firms’ civil litigation defense practice, doing research, drafting motions, and attending mediations and depositions.

At Texas Tech Law, Bennett participated in Board of Barristers competitions, and he is on a national moot court team.

In his free time, Bennett enjoys running and watching OU and Texas Tech football. He is currently training for a marathon.
