Mercedes Reed is a second-year law student at Texas Tech University School of Law, where she is pursuing a Business Law Concentration and will graduate in May 2027. Mercedes grew up in Denison, Texas, and graduated from Denison High School before moving to Dallas, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance, summa cum laude, from Dallas Baptist University in 2024.
Following her first year of law school, Mercedes interned with the Honorable Amos Mazzant at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, where she drafted legal memoranda, assisted with proposed orders, and observed trials, hearings, and sentencing proceedings. Additionally, Mercedes worked as a legal intern at ExchangeRight LLC, where she assisted with real estate transactions. In this role, she collaborated with both legal counsel and business teams, learning about due diligence, contract review, and deal structuring.
At Texas Tech Law, Mercedes has distinguished herself in advocacy through Board of Barristers competitions. Building on this success, during her second year, she will represent Texas Tech on the National Negotiations Team and serve as a mediator in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinic.
In her free time, Mercedes enjoys playing piano, pickleball, pilates, and exploring new coffee shops.
