Francesca Yanez-Torres is a second-year law student who will graduate in May 2027. She was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Francesca graduated from Texas Tech University in 2024 with a degree in Political Science and a Minor in Philosophy.
Prior to law school, Francesca interned at the Lubbock Private Defender Office and gained hands-on experience in criminal defense investigations and indigent defense work. She has continued her interest in criminal law during her 1L summer, where she clerked at the Law Office of Laurie Key. There she gained experience drafting motions and conducting legal research for issues arising in both state and federal criminal cases.
In addition to serving as a staff member for Volume 58 of Texas Tech Law Review, Francesca is also involved with the Criminal Law Association as the Vice President, the Organization of Women in Law, and is a member of a National Moot Court Team. She also serves as a 1L Tutor for Professor Watts’s Torts.
In her free time, Francesca enjoys cooking, going to the student rec center to play volleyball with her friends, and watching movies with her cat.
