Donovan Maynard is a J.D. candidate who will graduate in May 2027. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland, and raised in Waxahachie, Texas. Donovan graduated from Texas Tech University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Chemistry.
As an undergraduate, Donovan was selected as a Terry Foundation Scholar, through which he participated in numerous service events and benefited from exceptional mentorship. Later, he served as a mentor to subsequent classes of Terry Scholars. This experience fostered in him a passion and commitment to giving back the opportunities and support he has received to the community.
During his 1L summer, Donovan worked as a law clerk at Walls, Landry, Baker & Oliver PLLC. There, he conducted legal research and drafted various contracts for the purchase, sale, and lease of commercial real estate.
In addition to serving as a member of the Texas Tech Law Review, Donovan is a member of the Black Law Students Association.
In his free time, Donovan enjoys watching movies, walking his dog, spending time with friends and family, and playing pickleball.
