Phillip James is a law student at Texas Tech University School of Law, expected to graduate in May 2027. Originally from Houston, Texas, Phillip moved to Lubbock during high school and has since made West Texas his home.
Throughout his time at Texas Tech, Phillip has been actively involved in student service organizations, driven by a strong desire to give back to the community and make a positive impact. His academic background in Philosophy and his deep sense of justice sparked a passion for the legal system—particularly the structure, rules, and procedures that uphold fairness and order in society.
Phillip currently serves as a member of the Texas Tech Law Review and is also a member of the school’s national moot court team, the Energy Law Interest Group, the Estate and Property Law Society, and Phi Delta Phi, a legal honor society.
During the summer after his first year of law school, Phillip clerked at Robles, Rael & Anaya, where he conducted legal research, reviewed and drafted discovery documents, and gained hands-on experience in litigation preparation. He then interned with Federal Magistrate Judge Amy Burch of the Northern District of Texas, where he focused on legal research and drafting findings and recommendations for the court.
Outside of law school, Phillip enjoys playing tennis, practicing archery, running, and watching movies.
