Derek Fisher

Derek Fisher is a third-year law student who will graduate in May 2026. He was born in Austin, Texas, and was raised in Allen, Texas. Derek graduated as a First-Ranked Senior Scholar from the University of Arkansas in 2023, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Criminal Justice. He was actively involved in both the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the undergraduate mock trial team.

In addition to serving as an Articles Editor for Volume 58 of the Texas Tech Law Review, Derek serves as a Dean’s Ambassador, is the Director of Oral Advocacy on the Board of Barristers, and has been on multiple national advocacy teams, competing in both mock trial and moot court competitions.

Following his 2L year, Derek was a summer associate in the Dallas office of the civil litigation firm Hartline Barger LLP, where he assisted with litigation matters ranging from contractual disputes to complex tort litigation. His primary interests include the Texas court system, Texas civil procedure, and trial and appellate advocacy. In his free time, Derek enjoys playing golf with his friends, trying out new Italian recipes, and following the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas Tech Red Raiders.
