Maria Ortiz

Maria is a 2L J.D. candidate graduating in May 2020. Maria enjoyed growing up in the Hill Country as a San Saba, Texas native. Upon graduation she moved to Austin to attend Concordia University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Maria is a Dual Degree Program participant and is pursuing a Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning in addition to her law degree.

Prior to attending law school, Maria worked as part of the Scheduling and Events staff at Concordia, then as a Support Services clerk for Armburst & Brown, PLLC.

Following her 1L year, Maria became a trained mediator with the Lubbock County Office of Dispute Resolution. In addition to being a Staff Member for Volume 51 of the Texas Tech Law Review, Maria serves as a Contributing Writer for the Texas Bank Lawyer. Maria’s legal interests include estate planning, real estate, and tax law.
