Katherine Mendiola is currently a 3L J.D. candidate graduating in May 2017. She graduated magna cum laude in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. After completing her undergraduate degree, she moved to Austin, Texas, where she worked during the 82nd legislative session and then moved to Monterey, California, to work for National Geographic Learning. After moving back to Texas, Katherine was blessed to begin working for an insurance defense firm, where she subsequently clerked during the summers of her 1L and 2L year.
Katherine currently serves as the 3L editor for the Texas Bank Lawyer, the Public Interest/Pro Bono Chair for the ABA, and is an Articles Editor for the Texas Tech Law Review. She is currently a research assistant at the law library. She is a member of the Law Student Pro Bono College and clerks for Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid. She has worked for her local Congressman, interned with Justice Dori Contreras Garza of the 13th Court of Appeals, and interned with Judge Eduardo Rodriguez of the Southern District of Texas Bankruptcy Court. She will be returning to Austin for the 85th Legislative Session.
