Aaron Powell is a 3L J.D. candidate graduating in May 2017. He serves as the Lead Articles Editor of the Texas Tech Law Review. Aaron grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated in 2011 from the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Philosophy with a Government minor. He also served on the executive committee of the UT chapter of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college, Aaron worked throughout Colorado and Wyoming as a petroleum landman for a Fort Worth oil and gas company.
During law school, he interned for Justice Debra Lehrmann at the Supreme Court of Texas, and Judge Les Hatch at the 237th District Court of Texas in Lubbock. His Comment focused on the legal issues involved at the crossroads of oil and gas exploration and earthquakes. He works with Professor Bruce Kramer as the Student Editor of the LexisNexis Oil & Gas Reporter. After law school, Aaron will join the Dallas office of Thompson & Knight LLP as an associate attorney.
